We have an immediate opening for an Accounting Analyst focusing heavily on financial analysis and custodial accounting. This will include working on multiple projects and being able to accept accountability for the monthly financial closing for our Lakewood, OH operation. This position will be located in Lakewood with moderate travel to/from GTI Headquarters.
The primary responsibility of this position is to manage the monthly close process for the plant as well as proactively seek ways to improve current processes by identifying inefficiencies and leveraging technology. To this end he/she will:
- Prepare monthly reports using various application platforms including JDE, Crystal Reporting, SpreadSheet Server, consolidation package reporting and database reporting
- Support process enhancements and automation initiatives to streamline global work processes
- Support corporate compliance including SOX compliance and compliance of corporate policies
- Participate in planning, scheduling and organizing interim and annual closings.
- Requires constant interface with all levels of worldwide management and various departments.
- Develop productive business relationships with key business partners.
- Prepare and analyze journal entries in compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP) and other accounting standards.
- Complete GL account reconciliations.
- Work with peers to ensure the most efficient operational processes.
- Develop compelling presentations and content.
- Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, or maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
- Continuously seek to improve processes/procedures in new environment; seek ways to shorten and stream-line monthly closing process.
- Owner of Global account reconciliation tool, include developing metric reporting.
Required Qualifications:
- Financial or Accounting BS Degree.
- 3-5 years experience in an accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of software applications and ability and desire to learn and apply new IT applications to improve work processes
- Superior MS office skills – especially in Excel and Access
- Working knowledge of payroll, general ledger, accounts payable, and fixed asset systems is required.
- Knowledge of mainframe accounting systems i.e. JDE
- Demonstrated success working in a multicultural, team-oriented manufacturing environment.
