The entry level scientist will focus on the development of carbon and graphite materials. The candidate will have an understanding of laboratory equipment and processes as they relate to product development and be responsible for collecting and recording data with an understanding of statistical principles. The candidate will adhere to the established health and safety procedures at the R&D facility and perform related duties as assigned to achieve the department’s objectives. Travel to other GrafTech and customers’ production facilities to assist in plant trials or field test observations may be required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a physical sciences field, such as Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science.
- 0-5 years of hands-on development/research/industrial experience involving laboratory experiments, use of instrumentation, processing, or equivalent.
- A working knowledge of laboratory procedures, equipment and safety practices.
- Proficient in computer software applications.
- Demonstrated good mechanical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to pay close attention to detail work.
- Work is carried out in a team environment, requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills.
