This position will focus on the development of carbon and graphite materials from biomass-based precursors. Fundamental understanding of the conversion of biomass to carbon, including the polymerization behavior, condensation reaction kinetics, and mechanism during the carbonization process, is the main focus of this position. The ability to alter the carbonization chemistry at the molecular level to generate novel carbon and graphite materials for a variety of applications is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct projects in the biomass to carbon area
• Support the implementation of new products and process in collaboration with engineering, product management and marketing functions. 
• Conduct audits of best practices in the manufacturing plants 
• Create and present technical reports as required 
• Domestic and international travel are required

Qualifications:

• PhD degree in Organic Chemistry
• Experience in synthesis and characterization of biomass based materials
• Experience writing technical reports and presentations
